Solar & Storage

Solar energy systems in Malaysia

EVOLTS delivers turn-key solar PV and battery storage for three distinct markets in Malaysia: commercial and industrial rooftops, battery energy storage, and residential Solar ATAP. Each has different economics, different approvals and different engineering risk. This page routes you to the right one.

How we work

Every project runs the same engineering sequence, whether it is a terrace roof or a two-megawatt factory: measure, calculate, design, submit, install, commission, maintain.

The detail differs by segment. See the full EPC process for commercial and industrial projects, which covers survey, structural assessment, TNB interconnection and production-sequenced installation.

Questions about solar in Malaysia

How long do solar panels last?

Tier-1 modules carry a 25-year power output warranty and typically still produce around 80–85% of rated output at year 25. Inverters have a shorter service life and should be budgeted for replacement once during the system’s lifetime — a cost most quotations quietly leave out.

Do solar panels work when it rains or is cloudy?

Yes, at reduced output. Malaysian systems are designed around annual yield, not best-case days, so overcast and monsoon periods are already accounted for in the generation estimate we give you. Rain also helps by washing off surface dust.

What happens to my solar system during a blackout?

A standard grid-tied array shuts down automatically during an outage — this is a safety requirement so no power is fed back onto lines engineers may be working on. If you need supply to continue through an outage, that requires battery energy storage designed in from the start.

How many solar panels do I need?

It is set by your consumption and your usable roof area, not by the size of your house. As a rough guide, 1 kWp needs roughly 5–6 m² of unshaded roof, and a Malaysian home using RM 500 of electricity a month is usually looking at 8–12 kWp. We size it precisely from your bill and a drone survey.

Is my roof suitable for solar?

Three things decide it: usable unshaded area, orientation, and whether the structure can carry the additional dead load. We establish all three before quoting — the load calculation especially, because older Malaysian roofs and extensions were often never specified for it. More on our survey method.
